Making a glass jar terrarium is a great opportunity to go outside for a walk with your buddy and have fun while you collect all the rocks, soil, pebbles and moss.
You’ll need:
- Glass jar of any kind (mason jar, pickle jar, etc)
- Small plant (like a succulent but any plant can work)
- Soil
- Pebbles, rocks, sand and moss (go for a walk with your buddy and find them in the park on the backyard)
After you collect all the items, follow these easy steps:
Step 1
Start adding your layers and work up from large to small. Start with bigger rocks and a layer of moss for drainage and color.
Step 2
Work up to your soil layer. All the pebble and moss layers create drainage since your glass jar doesn’t have any holes in the bottom, this will help prevent over-watering the plant. Add 1-2 inches of soil.
Step 3
Dig a little hole in the soil, loosen the roots and add your plant. Finish with a final layer of moss. Water the moss and not the plant.
