Halloween is the perfect holiday to do-it-yourself: carving jack-o-lanterns, sewing homemade costumes and baking sweet treats. Here are 3 fun Halloween crafts you can do outdoors with your buddy while social distancing.
Pine Cone Spiders
Take your buddy outdoors to scavenge for “spiders”. Pine cones make the perfect bumpy base for a DIY tarantula, and brown pipe cleaners are delightful as eight spindly legs.
Materials:
Pipe Cleaners
Googly Eyes
Pine Cones
Glue
Instructions:
Have fun finding pine cones, then glue the pipe cleaners as legs and as many googly eyes as you both want!
Painted Monster Rocks
Bright, bold colors work well for these little monsters. Paint smooth rocks to cover completely, then individualize the creatures with fangs, zigzags, or spots.
Materials:
Rocks
Paint
Googly Eyes
Glue
Instructions:
Go outside and get as many rocks as you can! All shapes and sizes. Then pain the rocks and add the eyes with glue.
Jar Lanterns
Clean and peel the label from an empty pickle or marinara sauce jar. Glue on a few layers of tissue paper to add texture and color, then add a construction paper face. To make these totally kid friendly, illuminate with a battery operated tea light. You can choose to make either ghosts or pumpkins and light the way while having fun outdoors!
