Make A Real Difference Today!

Athletes For Kids is always looking for high school athletes who are great role models in their schools and communities. We are very careful on who we select to become AFK mentors and not everyone has what it takes. We select high school athletes who are sophomores or juniors (in the fall/winter) and have a passion to impact the life of a child.

Currently AFK serves the cites of Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Newcastle, Redmond, Renton, Sammamish, Snoqualmie and Woodinville.  If you think you have what it takes to be a great mentor and play a sport at one of the following high schools, please apply.

  • Bellevue High School
  • Eastlake High School
  • Eastside Catholic
  • Issaquah High School
  • Juanita High School
  • Lake Washington High School
  • Liberty High School
  • Mercer Island High School
  • Newport High School
  • Redmond High School
  • Skyline High School
  • New Chapters Coming Soon!

If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a mentor, and they are currently attending high school at one of our high school chapters and participating in a sport, an application must be completed and submitted online. Your application will be screened by Athletes For Kids staff. If approved, an interview will be scheduled. Once selections are made, the athlete must take part in a training session before they are eligible to be matched in a mentoring relationship with a child.

As a non-profit, AFK depends on funding from various sources including grants, private funding, and the generous support of participant families. Each mentorship costs approximately $1,200 per year to support and maintain. We kindly ask that all mentor families, if able, make a minimum annual donation of $100. Your contribution directly supports your child’s participation in the program!
